The G5-X is Colnago’s next-generation gravel bike. Not an evolution of the G4-X, but an entirely new gravel platform, developed from a close analysis of how modern gravel riders actually ride, and what riders demand from their bike. The G5-X draws on Colnago’s expertise in performance cycling, with design decisions reached after studying the challenges faced by riders in the worlds toughest gravel races.
After studying these races, Colnago decided on the following:
Increased Tyre Clearance: For grip, comfort, control and efficiency on rough terrain, plus better puncture resistance.
Slacker Head Angle: More stable at speed, better on steep descents, and better bump absorption because the angle better matches square edge hits; thus allowing the fork to compress more easily.
Increased Rake: Balances the slacker head angle, keeps the steering lighter and quicker.
New Carbon Layup: Softer on the harshest terrain, more responsive when you push.
Lower Bottom Bracket: Lower centre of gravity, more stable, and counteracts the larger tyres which are taller and raise the bike.
Longer Wheelbase: More stable at speed, and the bike pitches less over rough terrain. Plus, greater traction because the load is spread more evenly between the wheels.
Carrying Capacity: 6 mounting points, and built in frame storage.

- Round 27.2mm seatpost, giving widest range of compatiblity inc. droppers.
